Our Neighbors
While Noxen offers plenty of old town
charm surrounded by scenic mountains and countryside, there are also
plenty of other
beautiful towns and municipalities nearby, and there's no shortage of sights and
activities to keep you busy. Head a dozen miles north to Tunkhannock
to catch
Pennsylvania's Historic Route 6, (part of the
nationwide span that stretches
from coast to coast). While you're there, check out some of the
great
local wineries or the restored
Dietrich
Theater. Or, take a
hot
air balloon ride over Northeastern Pennsylvania. Head to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area for sporting
events including
Penguins ice
hockey and
RailRiders AAA
baseball, plus auto racing at
Pocono Raceway. For more entertainment options you can check out
concerts and shows at the
Mohegan Sun Arena, the F.M.
Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, and
The Pavilion
at Montage. For winter fun, there's skiing at
Montage Mountain,
Elk Mountain, or
Jack Frost/Big Boulder.
Still other attractions include the Lackawanna
County Coal Mine Tour, the Lion
Brewery, and the Everhart
Museum. There's also hiking, fishing, hunting, boating - plenty
for the outdoor enthusiast.
There are plenty of great colleges and
universities in the area as well, including
King's
College, Luzerne
County Community College, Marywood
University, Misericordia
University, Penn
State University's Wilkes-Barre and Worthington
Scranton campuses, Wilkes
University, and the University
of Scranton.
